EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The attached ordinance amends Chapter 17 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Cape Girardeau, Missouri regarding the decriminalization of marijuana.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Missouri voters passed Amendment 3 to legalize recreational marijuana to adults. This proposed ordinance amends our Code of Ordinances to the decriminalization of marijuana, which is no longer a controlled substance under State law.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
The staff recommends the approval of the ordinance.
