SUBJECT
A public hearing to consider the proposed voluntary annexation of property located at 3101 County Road 620.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A public hearing has been scheduled for January 23, 2023 to consider the proposed annexation of the property at 3101 County Road 620.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On December 19, 2022, the City Council acknowledged receipt of an annexation petition for the property at 3101 County Road 620 and set a public hearing for January 23, 2023, to consider the proposed annexation and zoning of the property. On January 11, 2023, the Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing on the proposed zoning of the property as R-4 (Medium Density Multifamily Residential District) upon annexation. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted to table the zoning recommendation. Therefore, the City Council's January 23, 2023, public hearing will be limited to the annexation of the property. A separate public hearing for the zoning will be held after the Planning and Zoning Commission makes a recommendation.
SUSTAINABILITY: ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL IMPACTS
Annexing property is necessary for the orderly growth of the City. By annexing and zoning properties such as this, the property owners and the community as a whole will benefit from regulations intended to protect the public health, safety, and general welfare.
PUBLIC OUTREACH
Notice of the City Council's public hearing was advertised in the Southeast Missourian on January 14, 2023. In addition, a sign containing the date, time, location, and subject of the public hearing was posted on the property.
